The EU Ambassador to Tirana, Luigi Soreca wished Europe Day on Sunday through a long video message saying that this year was difficult due to the COVID-19 virus. Describing Europe as a story of new beginnings, Soreca said the EU's task at the moment is to end the pandemic.
"Now I am in Tamara, one of the most isolated areas of the country. However, even here, we look at the EU route that made this valley accessible, the border crossing we financed to facilitate exchanges with Montenegro, as well as investments on tourist information to bring more visitors to this amazing part of Europe," he said.
May 9, Europe Day has brought a different atmosphere on Sunday in the capital. The Municipality of Tirana decorated the city, the institutions, but also the Boulevard "Dëshmorët e Kombit" and the square "Skënderbej" with the colorful flags of the countries that are today part of the union.
