The Ombudsperson’ s Office has reacted regarding the buildings that are being demolished in the area of ’5 May’ in Tirana where police has exerted violence to disperse the inhabitants whose houses are being levelled to ground
The announcement of the Office of the Ombudsperson, which is headed by Ms. Erinda Ballanca, stated on Wednesday that they had requested information from the administrative units no. 4 and 8, in the area of May 5, while adding that the information received has been vague
The Ombudsperson has asked the Municipality to show the reasons why the expropriation of apartments in this area is the only means of reaction.
“Also, the Ombudsperson draws attention to some clauses of this decision, which due to the procedures followed with the justification of the emergency created by the earthquake of 2019, today in 2022 do not offer sufficient guarantees for the citizens who are affected by the demolition of their objects and they are evasively promised a form of non-individualized and non-individualized compensation,” the announcement said.
In addition it is said that the interest of the Institution of the Ombudsman’s Municipality of Tirana and the relevant structures have not responded in time and furthermore the information presented is general without argumentation and documented with the relevant acts. / Argumentum.al
