Ambassador Alexander Karpushin said that together with his wife they were leaving this wonderful country full of optimism because they had plenty of positive memories
TIRANA- While bidding farewell in a reception on September 27 this year, the outgoing Russian Ambassador to Albania, Alexander Karpushin launched the inauguration of the new complex of the Russian Embassy in Tirana.
The inaugural ceremony coincided with a less solemn and joyful event which is “the end of my mission in Tirana as Ambassador of Russia,” said Mr. Karpushin in the reception attended by local officials, representatives of diplomatic corps in Tirana and other invitees.
“Undoubtedly, there is no reason for joy. To be frank we feel bad that we are leaving Albania a country which my wife and I loved really. But this is unavoidable for the diplomatic service,” he said, adding that they had resided in Tirana for a rather long time, that is five years.
He said that together with his wife they were leaving this wonderful country full of optimism because they had plenty of positive memories. “One of the best impressions is that since our first days of the stay we understood that there are many friends of Russia in Albania,” said Mr. Karpushin, who noted that there are many people who love Russian culture and art and speak perfectly Russian language.
In addition he mentioned the broad network of branches of Albanian- Russian Friendship Association, 17 of them, which operate across Albania. On this occasion he spoke of the warm relationship with the participants in the Anti- Fascist war and greeted Mr. Rustem Peci, head of veterans organization, and all Albanian veterans.
He was happy that upon his leaving the new complex of the Russian Embassy was built having all its needed facilities. The Ambassador took the opportunity to thank the Albanian construction company as well as the Tirana Mayor, Erion Veliaj for the help and support to resolve questions related to the construction of the complex and preparation of all necessary files.
“As you can see, we have made many friends,” said Mr. Karpushin who thanked them for the great respect towards Russia, good understanding and support. “I am convinced that thanks to that Albania will remain in our memories and hearts for a long time,” concluded his remarks in the reception the Russian Ambassador, Alexander Karpushin.
