TIRANA, August 11 – The cooperation agreement between the two companies that will build the yacht port of Durres, an investment of 2 billion dollars, was signed in Tirana on Thursday. The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between “Eagle Hills Real Estate Development” shpk, represented by investor Muhammed El Alabbar and “Albanian Seaports Development Company”, finalizing almost 3 years of negotiations.
The “Durres, Yachts and Marina” project is an investment of 2 billion dollars. It includes a port of yachts and a series of hotels, bars, restaurants, cinemas and residences.
“The contract will be the best answer for all those who speculated and left nothing unsaid about this project, which is one of the projects that will change not Durres, but Albania forever,” said Prime Minister Edi Rama who was present in signing the memorandum of cooperation,
In addition to the employment of 12,000 people, according to Prime Minister Rama, this project will have an impact not only on Durres, but on the entire image of Albania in Europe.
Rama said that the value of all the hotels on the Durres beach coastline will increase, and a project is being worked on to expand the surface of the sand and build a new promenade.
While the investor Mohamed Alabar appreciated the initiatives that Albania is undertaking to stimulate the economy.
“We’re going to create something that when people come, they’ll want to never leave. I promise you this. We will take the best minds to create a beautiful life. I think that the Albanian economic engine is worth it. The figures are very high in tourism. I promise you that I will never disappoint you, but when I make a mistake, I will apologize,” said Alabar.
For her part, Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku explained that the placement of the existing port in Porto Romano has been studied. “The final steps of the construction of the project, which also has 2 important elements and they are the connection with a railway of the Dry Port in Pristina, and a final part of the port that will be dedicated to military operations under the umbrella of NATO, a project that we have presented in the NATO office in Brussels,” said Balluku. /Argumentum.al
