An intergovernmental meeting between Albania and Kosovo held in Tirana on Friday was crowned with the signing of 14 agreements between the two countries.
One of the major agreements was the target of turning the port of Durres on the Adriatic Sea into a common customs point.
Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama said after the meeting in a joint press conference with his Kosovo counterpart Avdullah Hoti that the accord will be concretized in the coming weeks in Kosovo. Further on Rama said that the main goal of both countries is the full opening of the border, which, according to him, could be achieved only through union in the regional Mini- Schengen.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Hoti confirmed his participation in the next meeting.
With regard to one of the demands of US President Donald Trump for the relocation of thel Albanian embassy in Jerusalem, Rama said that he will keep the line of the EU which opposes this plan.
In the meantime he announced Skavica Hydropower Plant will be funded by the US. One of the points of the accords signed on Friday was the construction of a digital corridor through 5G technology. Rama said that the right alternative should be chosen for the offer.
The joint meeting between the governments of Albania and Kosovo was scheduled to be held in Shkodra, the key center of northern Albania, but no reason has been made public on the change of venue./argumentum.al
