Albania’s Acting Foreign Minister Gent Cakaj is in Skopje, where he is paying a two-day official visit. Chief Diplomat Cakaj started the visit with a meeting with his counterpart Bujar Osmani, said a press release issued by the press office of foreign ministry on Thursday.
The focus of the meeting was discussions on holding the next intergovernmental meeting with special emphasis on the continuation of works for the construction of the Arber road, the Bitola-Elbasan interconnection and the good management of Lake Ohrid.
The counterparts also strongly emphasized the need for joint work to further advance the negotiation process for membership in the European Union.
“It must be said that Albania strongly counts on the support of North Macedonia for its candidacy as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2022-2023,” said Cakaj.
In addition Chief Diplomat Cakaj said that he shared the same view with Minister Osmani regarding the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, which should end clearly and decisively with the recognition of the Republic of Kosovo by Serbia. Albania Asks North Macedonia’s Support for a Seat in UN Security Council.
