Albania is determined to offer the most optimal conditions to the students of national minorities, has said the Minister of Education, Evis Kushi. Together with the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Zoran Zaev and the Minister of Education and Science, Mila Carovska, Kushi paid a visit on Friday to the joint high school of Pustec, southeastern Albania, bordering North Macedonia.
“It is an honor that today together with the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Zoran Zaev and the Minister of Education and Science, Mila Carovska to visit the joint high school of Pustec, a school reconstructed from the state budget and the result of the promise of Prime Minister Rama in the continuation of the most recent joint meeting between the governments of our two countries,” Kushi said.
In her post on FB on Friday, the minister expressed her determination to provide the most optimal conditions for students of national minorities, both in Albanian and in their mother tongue, based on national legislation and international conventions for the protection of rights of minorities.
“Specifically, we have improved competency-based curricula for national minority students, as well as included them in the free textbook support scheme until the ninth grade,” she said.
In the meantime the minister announced that after the end-of-year holidays the school will start on 11 January 2021.
“In cooperation with the Committee of Experts, we have decided that after the end-of-year holidays, the school will start on January 11 and not on the 4th, as provided by the previous order,” said Kushi./argumentum.al
