The Prime Minister, Edi Rama has been straightforward on the life threat of COVID-19 warning of the incalculable consequences of the transmission of the virus speaking to students at a school in Durres about the preventive measures taken at the beginning of the school year.
The 2020-2021 academic school year starts in Albania on September 14.
PM called on young people to implement the preventive measures as the only way to avoid the further outbreak of the disease.
“As it has happened in all countries, there is no way it can not happen in Albania that with the opening of schools the number of the infections will increase,” said Rama who admitted that some movements, which are inevitable sometimes, are enough for the transmission to happen.
Further on he said Albania does not have catastrophic numbers and the trend is stabilized but there are still fatalities.
According to his predictions, all this school year will be held in the conditions of the pandemic.
“I understand very well how difficult it is, but it is a challenge and the challenges are for the people,” said Rama.
The Health Ministry announced on Tuesday that there were 147 new infections with COVID19 over the last 24 hours with 2 fatalities bringing the death toll to 321 since the outbreak of the pandemic. /argumentum.al
